HIGHLIGHTS OF NEW ADULT SINGLES LEAGUE
2/26/07

REGISTRATION DEADLINE MARCH 23RD [download registration form]
PLAY BEGINS APRIL 16, 2007

Players
Players will be divided into divisions according to their current NTRP ratings. Players without a valid computer rating must self rate using NTRP guidelines.  Since matches are un-officiated and played on the honor system, players should have a good knowledge of basic rules of tennis as set forth in "The Code".

Determining Play
The league coordinator will compile a player contact list with phone numbers and email addresses which  will be distributed to each player.  Players have one week to schedule and play their match. The week runs Monday – Sunday. Home player must contact visitor by Sunday night the week preceding their scheduled match.  Home player should give 3 potential match dates and times. One date and time should be mutually agreed
upon and the court reserved accordingly. Both players are responsible for contacting each other. If the visiting player has not heard from the home player, the visiting player should attempt contact.

Matches should be scheduled between 5:30pm and 8pm Monday – Friday, or between 9am and 7pm Saturday or Sunday. Scheduling matches outside of the above times is OK if both players agree.

If a player goes on vacation during the league season, the player should contact the opponent and schedule the match in advance. Scores should be entered as soon as the match is played.

Tennis Courts
Home captain chooses the match location and court surface. If the home captain
uses courts where guest fees are required, guest fees should be split between the 2 players.

Matches may be played indoors or outdoors. If matches are scheduled at a public facility without a court reservation system, the home player must secure the court. If a court is not available within 20 minutes of the scheduled match time, the visiting player may take a default.

Match Format
Match play will consist of best of two of three sets using regular scoring and a set tiebreak (12 pt, or first to 7 points by 2 points) at six games-all in each set. The Coman tiebreak procedure will be used for all tiebreaks. If both players agree, a match tiebreak (first to 10, win by 2) may be played rather than a 3rd set. A match tiebreak will be scored as 7-6.

Standings and Playoffs and Prizes

Divisions are made up of a minimum of 6 players and a maximum of 12 players. Divisions of more than 12 players will divide into flights. Each division (or flight) will play a round robin. The top 3 players from single flight divisions will advance to a round robin playoff. The top 2 players of 2 flight divisions will advance to a round robin playoff.  Overall standings will be based on the players overall match win/loss record. Ties will be broken in the following order: sets won, games won, sets lost, games lost.

Each division winner will receive a cash prize. Amount to be determined after the March 23 entry deadline.

League Fees – The league fee is $35 per person. Payments can be made to the league coordinator by credit card or check.
