Each
year the Richmond Tennis Association recognizes
outstanding junior tennis players in the area for their
hard work and commitment to the sport.
This
year as in the past, the awards were presented at the SMARTBOX
VA
State Indoor Hardcourt Championships. The RTA selects high
school players who have proven themselves worthy by
on-court performance and attitude. Those names are then given
as suggestions to a council of tennis
professionals from major local clubs who choose the
winners.
Kristin
Nimitz, winner of last year's
Sportsmanship Award said that the recognition
"motivates all of us to work harder and improve."
Her mom, Keri Nimitz, is proud to report the results of
Kristin's hard work: Kristin earned a full
scholarship at James Madison University starting in
2007.
RTA Executive Director,
Lou Einwick also presented a service award to outgoing RTA
President Eric Perkins, who will be stepping down after
serving a three year term.
