RTA/ McDONALD'S SATELLITE #2  JULY 10-13, 2006

More than 90 players from Richmond and surrounding areas met at the last McDonald's Satellite tournament of the season. This event, a Level 4 tournament, attracted players from Virginia Beach, Blacksburg, Winchester and Windsor.  This tournament had  no consolation round.

Boys' 14 Singles  Final

 (2) Hunter Koontz d. (1) Edgar Vitkovski  6-2, 6-2

Boys' 12 Singles  Final

 (1) Shyam Venkatasubramanian d. (2) Connor Garyotis 6-3; 3-6; 6-1

Connor Garyotis (left) and Shyam Venkatasubramanian.  Connor played in two divisions, and made it to the semis of the 14s as well.

Kari Pope is from Windsor, VA.  She's been playing tennis for quite a few years but took some time off  from the game this winter. She played a familiar opponent from VA Beach.

Girls' 12 Singles  Final

(2) Emily Hahn d. (1) Abbie Pahz   6-1; 6-3

Emily Hahn, age 12 and Abbie Pahz, age 10,  have beautiful games that draw admirers.  Abbie was asked to play mixed doubles  in the MATA Clay Court Open Championships when a female player pulled out due to injury.   Abbie's partner had watched her play in a clinic that afternoon.
