Davenport
& Company presents 2008 City of Richmond Tennis Championships
(Open
& Family Divisions), which will be held at Byrd Park May
10th - May 18th.
The
Open level tournament historically attracts top college players, pros and coaches
living in the Greater Richmond metropolitan area to play in men's and
women's singles, doubles and mixed.
The
2008 City Men's Singles Champion will be presented with the Einwick
Cup, a beautiful silver traveling trophy to display until the 2009
winner is
crowned.

The
tournament will kick-off with the 1st annual Battle of the Pros
on Saturday, May 10th, featuring ten of the area's top club tennis
professionals battling to win a trip to the Homestead Resort in Hot
Springs, VA.
Following the Battle of the Pros, families will take to the courts to
determine the Father-Son, Father-Daughter, Mother-Son and
Mother-Daughter Family Division winners.
Junior
Division Championships will be held at two locations later in
May. Starting May 24th - May 31st, novice players will meet on the beautiful Westhampton courts of University of
Richmond. Open level junior players will play their matches at Byrd
Park.

Senior Division Championships for ages 35+ will play on the
clay courts of Willow Oaks Country Club, just south of the James River
near the City, June 28th - July 3rd.
Men's singles for ages 35-70 (5 year intervals); Men's doubles for
ages 35-60; Women's singles and doubles 35-60. All players play
in an "open" (un-rated) draw.
