ROBIOUS
MIXED MEMBER TOURNAMENT
November
13-17, 2006
|
Robious
Sports & Fitness celebrated the finals of the 2006 Mixed Member tournament
with a Johnny Cash Theme Night complete with a Mexican buffet. Said
organizer Bob Steele, "We toiled away all week playing tennis, under the
guise of a tennis tournament.
"Friday
is what it all is really about: the BIG Party!"
The
tournament committee wanted to do it up BIG
(beer is good?) this year, so with that goal in mind a week of Theme Nights was introduced. On Monday,
players unapologetically wore matching outfits; on Tuesday, it was all
tie-dyed shirts and terry cloth headbands for Retro Night. Wednesday,
braces were displayed for a Tennis Injury theme, and Thursday it was high
fashion for Maria Sharapova Scream and Grunt Night.
In
an email sent to all participants on Friday, Bob Steele instructed:
"Tonight is Johnny Cash Night! Dress in black like
Johnny! Sing and Dance like Johnny! And Party like Johnny!"
Food was provided by La Bamba Restaurant on Gayton Road.
Along
with the awards for tennis, prizes were given for spirit, enthusiasm and
"other fine qualities," said Steele. "To those who
received awards from our tennis committee, bask in the knowledge that we love
you.
"And
thank you for not punching me!"
