5/27/07:  One of the best parts of chronicling the junior tournaments is watching our young players grow up on the courts.  I've been photographing kids at local junior tourneys for not quite two years now, and  it's amazing how quickly these kids grow up.  How much they love the game.  How much they enjoy each other's company.  And how well they can hit the ball.  Richmond is blessed to have some of the best pros right here in the country, teaching our kids.

Whether they train at a public court with mom or dad - or a posh facility with the latest equipment, tournaments are a great way for players to find out where they stand up against other players in their age group.

"Playing tournaments is a way for players to see where their game is," said Raintree Pro, Eddie Parker, who has worked with some of the best in the area.   "And most everyone likes to compete.

"Players who are new to playing tournaments should play the RTA/ARTP One Day Junior Circuit events in the summer, then try a Futures tournament.  Richmond offers so many tournaments across the area:   Starting with L-6 events (like the McDonald's novices in the summer) , then there are the L-5,  L-4,  L-3,  L-2,  L-1 Championships.  Wow, that's a lot!"
