2007 RTA/ARTP Junior Tennis Circuit

Week #1:  Hermitage

WELCOME TO WEEK #1 of
the RICHMOND JUNIOR SUMMER CIRCUIT
an Event Sponsored by the
 ASSOCIATION OF RICHMOND TENNIS PROFESSIONALS
with the USTA, Richmond Tennis Association and USPTA

Head Tennis Pro Mark Bernstine hosted the first week of summer circuit play on 8 outdoor and 4 indoor courts on Saturday, June 9th.  The draw of approx. 115 entries is an increase of  30 over last year, and practically double the number of participants from two years ago.

The boys' 14s had 24 players, the largest division, followed closely by boys 12s, with 23 players and girls 12s with 20 entries.

"It's all craziness," said Bernstine, with a smile.

The level of play was fantastic and the tourney moved smoothly.  Congratulations to the winners!  See you next week!

----In the summer junior circuit one day events, all players are guaranteed two matches, with a first round consolation draw.   The Hermitage event, the first tourney of the summer circuit, typically has a smaller number of entries as school is still in session for many players.  Such a huge turnout sets high expectations for the remainder of the season! Junior tennis is very strong in Richmond!----
